Basic Safety training for Deckhands (1 day course)

New at STC NEXT location Heijplaat the one-day Basic Safety Deckhands training with dispensation! The CBR certification for the first dispensation Basic Safety Deckhands training is complete! On the 29th of November STC NEXT offers the first one-day course for anyone holding a valid Basic Training (STCW) maritime certificate.
The dispensation based on this valid certificate applies to a maximum of 2 of the 3 days. The participant will have to attend at least 1 more day of the Basic Training.

The components covered during the one-day course are:

  • Moving safely aboard a vessel;
  • Handling ropes and wires;
  • Risks from noise exposure.

STC NEXT has developed an effective training course in which the alternation of theory and practice plays a major role. This gives an immediate opportunity to apply the theoretical part in practice. The course complies with the Standards for Basic Safety Training for Deckhands set by CESNI (Decision: CESNI 2021-I-1) and Directive (EU) 2017/2397.

What can you do with it?
After completing the training, the participant receives a certificate recognized by the CBR. Based on this certificate and a valid medical examination one can apply for a service booklet with the EU qualification ‘Deckhand’.

What should I bring?

  • Valid proof of identity (Passport, Identity card, Driving licence);
  • Valid inland navigation examination certificate;
  • Dry underwear.

You do not need any specific knowledge to join the course. Minimum age is 16 years.

We recommend having an inland navigation examination beforehand. The inland navigation examination can also be arranged with our doctor at our location during the course.
