Sea Survival (GWO)

This training is accordingly to the guidelines of the Global Wind Organisation (GWO).

The Sea Survival Training GWO (Global Wind Organization) is intended for personnel working in the wind industry, involved in the construction, maintenance and / or service for wind turbines and wind farms at sea. This training provides knowledge and skills for survival at sea. This training provides theoretical and practical knowledge about emergencies on board of a ship and / or offshore wind installation. furthermore first aid, evacuation procedures and survival techniques will be part of this module.

For the practical parts we use a STC NEXT lifeboat with jet propulsion. We also have an advanced pool where every type of weather can be simulated.

This Sea Survival (GWO) training containts:

  • The dangers and symptoms of hypothermia;
  • The advantages and limitations of the various personal protection equipment used in the offshore wind industry;
  • The use of personal protection equipment;
  • Embark and disembark in a safe manner; Emergency procedures, safety equipment and measures on installations, ships and wind turbines;
  • Procedures in a man-overboard-situation (SAR, GMDSS Recovery and first aid);
  • Evacuation procedures of wind turbines;
  • The basics of survival at sea, both individually and in groups.

What should I bring?

  • Valid identification (passport, identity card, driving license);
  • Valid medical examination certificate.

You will receive a sticker for your safety passport (PSL) after the training. A safety passport is optionally available from us for € 17.50 (excl 21% VAT)

Winda registration
As from October 17, GWO training participants will have to register in WINDA for a delegate profile. Once you have completed your registration, you will receive a WINDA ID which you must send to info@STC NEXT.nl before you complete the training. The WINDA ID is your personal identification and all of your future GWO training will be associated with this ID.

The weight of the participant must not exceed 125 kilos.

Training times:
We expect the participants at 07.45 on the first training day. The following day starts at 08.30 training ends no later than 16.30, unless the participant attends additional training(s).

Language:
The training is given in English. We can organize this training in a different language for groups on request and if necessary with an private interpreter.
