• What kind of medical examination do I need?

    Which examination you need depends on what training you are going to take or what work you are going to do. We always recommend to ask the client what requirements there are for the work you are going to do. On the next page you can find which medical examinations we offer.

  • Can I book a medical examination with you?

    Yes that is certainly possible. We will arrange for you to be examined in the morning or afternoon on the first day of training. When you book a training, you can indicate this in the booking form. For more information about the inspections, please refer to the next page. It is also possible to book an inspection with us if you are not attending a training course. You cannot do this online, so we would like to ask you to make an appointment by phone or email.

  • Can you provide a customized training?

    Yes we can certainly provide this. We currently provide training for several companies that are put together in consultation. If the training you need is not on the website and you want to add your own touch to the program? You can! The most important aspect in putting together the program is whether we are able to accomplish the theory/practice without losing sight of safety.   • Can I also book an on-site training?

    Yes this is certainly possible, but not for all trainings. The location where the training is given must be suitable. Some trainings require practical material. If the location does not have this it is not possible to conduct the training. For more information please contact our booking department by phone or email.

  • My OPITO certificate is expired, what should I do now?

    You must have a valid OPITO certificate to participate in refresh training. If your OPITO BOSIET certificate has expired, you will unfortunately have to do the basic training again. If your OPITO FOET certificate has expired, you may apply for dispensation within 3 months of the expiration date of your certificate. If you qualify for dispensation please fill out the following form and send it to info-hp@stcnext.com. If your form is approved, you will still be able to attend OPITO FOET training.

  • Can I change or cancel my booking without any costs?

    Flexibility is of paramount importance to us. Given the unpredictable market, we are aware that it is not always possible to come and train on the date booked. It is therefore possible to change or cancel the training at no charge. If you wish to make a change or cancellation, please contact our booking department by phone or email. They will make the change and send you a confirmation.

  • How do I register for a training or exam?

    For all of our training courses, you can book online. You can do this by clicking the 'book now' button at the desired training or via the 'quick booking' button at the top of the page. Once you have selected a date, you will be asked for your details. After booking you will be sent a confirmation. It is also possible to make the booking by mail. You can send your request to info-hp@stcnext.com and we will make sure the booking is done. It is important to mention that if you do the booking through our website, you are guaranteed a place on the training. If the training or date you are looking for is not listed, you can always reach us by email or phone.

  • My GWO certificate is expired, what can I do?

    It is not possible to attend GWO refresher training with an expired certificate. You must then take a GWO basic training course. View our complete range of GWO basic and GWO refresher training courses.

  • What does GWO mean?

    GWO stands for Global Wind Organization. GWO is an organization that designs and manages global standards for various wind industry training courses.

  • What is a WINDA ID?

    WINDA stands for Wind Industry Database and it is managed by the Global Wind Organization (GWO). Here, clients can check whether personnel have the correct and valid GWO certificates. A WINDA ID is a unique personal number that you receive when you register with WINDA. When you successfully complete a GWO training course, this is registered in WINDA by STC NEXT using your WINDA ID. If you want to book a GWO basic or recurrent training, you must provide us with your WINDA ID. You can create a WINDA ID yourself.

  • What is the minimum training required to work in the maritime industry?

    If you are going to work in the maritime industry, STCW Basic Safety training is a minimum requirement. On this page you will find more information about the content of this training.

  • Are your maritime trainings conducted according to the new Manila Amendments 2010?

    Yes, all our STCW training is conducted according to the latest Manila Amendments 2010. The Manila Amendments include the guidelines for training seafarers.

  • My STCW certificate expired, what can I do?

    If your STCW certificate has expired, you may be eligible to take a refresher training course. If you have a valid certificate, you can often participate in a refresher. Don't have one? Then you will have to take the basic training. Do you doubt whether you may participate in a refresher training? Please contact us on 010-4283860 or info-hp@stcnext.com.

  • What are the minimum training required to work offshore?

    This depends on the area you will be working in, the work you will be doing and which client you will be working for. Generally, an OPITO BOSIET / FOET certificate is required as a minimum and accepted throughout the world. Furthermore, there is sometimes an additional requirement for a MIST or VCA certificate. An H2S or S-Cape certificate may also be required by the client. This must be checked in advance with the client. If you want to know more for your specific case, contact us or your client.

  • Can I book a medical examination at STC NEXT?

    Yes, that is possible. See the medical examinations page for the possibilities.

  • How far in advance should I schedule a medical examination?

    The examination is possible before or after the training, or during the break, but should always be booked well in advance (preferably at least one week). We have very flexible inspection times.

  • How long does it take to receive your certificate after passing?

    The certificates that we issue ourselves (such as OPITO, GWO, NOGEPA, STCW, NOG (OLF) and of STC NEXT) you will receive directly after the training (if you have passed) or will be sent to your employer the next working day. The certificates issued by external examination agencies such as VCA and DNV-GL are generally sent to you within 5 working days of the end of the training course.

  • Are the prices on the website inclusive or exclusive of VAT?

    The prices on the website are per student and exclusive of VAT. Please note that VAT is added to the amount shown. This is especially relevant for private persons.

  • Can I attend a training course in a foreign language?

    Yes, definitely! The language in which you can follow the training is indicated on each product page. Is your language not listed? Contact us and often we can arrange something!

  • What are the opening hours?

    We can be reached daily on weekdays by telephone from 07.30 to 17.00 on 0800 1412. 07.30 to 17.00 are also the opening hours of our location at Quarantaineweg 98, 3089 KP Rotterdam Heijplaat. Via the website you can book our training courses 24/7, these bookings will later be processed by our booking department. You will always receive a final booking confirmation so that all information is clear for both parties.

  • What is a PSL?

    PSL is short for Personal Safety Logbook, also called safety passport or ‘green book’. In this logbook all (training-) courses, safety instructions and medical examinations are registered. A PSL can be obtained from our course administration.

  • How do I find a good hotel?

    When booking one of our courses via the booking site you can also book your hotel accommodation at the hotel we work closely together with. The hotel is near the training centre and provides the option of a fast and cheap transfer to our training location by water taxi.

  • How do I reach STC NEXT by public transport?

    The premises of STC NEXT are situated in the port area of Rotterdam. By car we are easy to reach as we are located near Rijksweg A15. We can also be reached by public transport. From Rotterdam central station: Take the metro direction ‘Spijkenisse de Akkers’ or ‘Slinge’, get off at Slinge. Bus number 68 direction Heijplaat RDM Campus, get off at bus stop Neptunusstraat.   • What must I bring?

    If specific items must be brought this is mentioned in the course description. For example for Offshore training your ‘green book’ (PSL/Safety passport) and a proof of medical examination is required on the day of registration. For Maritime training courses your seaman’s book and possibly Seafarers medical examination certificate must be shown on the day of registration. If you take a Refresher training course please bring your valid certificates as well. For a single training a clean set of clothes and/or underwear is required; this is specifically mentioned in the training description. All personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided by STC NEXT for use during the training. Bringing your own PPE is possible but not required and is at your own risk. All course fees are inclusive of: Lunch buffet warm and cold Fruit and snacks Coffee, tea and drinking water. There is a machine for soft drinks and candies to meet your needs.

  • How and when can I pay?

    Via the booking site it is possible to pay via:

    • Invoice
    As STC NEXT we want to fulfill our course participants’ expectations; it will therefore still be possible to pay cash on location. It is not necessary to pay immediately upon registration. Regular customers can pay on account. Self-employed persons and private individuals can pay in advance after receipt of the invoice or in cash, PIN or credit card at the reception desk at the start of the training. On request, it is possible that we send a payment link by e-mail. The payment link allows payment by PIN or credit card.
